NEW YORK (Daily Point) — As the American presidential election nears, both candidates are ramping up their efforts to sway voters ahead of the crucial November 5 vote. With just a week to go, Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump are crisscrossing key battleground states, hoping to secure their paths to the White House.

Ms Harris is set to deliver a major campaign speech today in Washington, DC, where over 20,000 supporters are expected to gather. The vice president is leveraging her momentum and endorsements from prominent figures, including former First Lady Michelle Obama and former President Bill Clinton, who have taken to the stage to denounce Trump’s stance on women’s rights. Their appearances at various rallies are designed to galvanize support, particularly among women and minority voters.

In contrast, Trump is focusing his efforts on swing states, notably Pennsylvania, where he will hold a press talk today. Recently, he received a significant boost in Michigan from influential Muslim leaders who publicly endorsed him, recognizing his appeal within the state’s substantial Muslim community. Trump is keenly aware of the demographic dynamics and aims to capitalize on this newfound support as he campaigns aggressively in these battlegrounds.

The stakes are high in the seven critical swing states, where polls indicate a tight race with neither candidate enjoying a decisive lead. National polling averages show Harris with a slight edge over Trump, but the landscape can shift rapidly as voter sentiment changes.

As part of the early voting trend that gained momentum during the COVID-19 pandemic, President Joe Biden has already cast his ballot, while former President Jimmy Carter is also believed to have voted for Harris. Early voting has been particularly favored by Democrats, as evidenced by the active participation of prominent party figures encouraging citizens to vote early. However, all votes will be officially counted on Election Day, heightening the anticipation.

While Trump is running his campaign largely solo, he has been vocal about issues such as the situation in Gaza, hoping to capture the attention of voters concerned about international affairs. The global spotlight is firmly fixed on the American election, with heightened interest from both domestic and international observers.

With early voting underway and the clock ticking down to November 5, the race for the presidency has never been more competitive. As both candidates make their final pushes in these battleground states, all eyes will be on the polls to gauge the potential outcome of this historic election.
