(Web Desk Monitoring) — A 28-year-old woman, reportedly from Belgium, was discovered bound and gagged on a roadside in Islamabad on Wednesday, following what local media describe as several days of sexual assault.
The Islamabad Capital Police are working to confirm the woman’s identity and nationality, as she claims to be Belgian. According to a report by Dawn, police found the woman in Sector G-6/1-3. She informed authorities that she had been residing in Islamabad for the past six months, living with a man who allegedly raped her repeatedly.
The woman was taken to a hospital for medical treatment, but the police were unable to obtain a formal statement from her at that time. When they contacted the Belgian embassy, they found no records of a person matching her description having traveled to Pakistan. The embassy then directed the police to the Netherlands mission, as the woman mentioned her native area was near the Belgium-Netherlands border.
The police sought assistance from the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), but they also found no records of a Belgian woman with the provided name entering Pakistan.
The woman, who had no belongings or identification with her, later guided the police to a residence in Sector G-7, claiming it to be her home. However, the police reported that they found nothing at the location to verify her identity or nationality.
