The Netflix hit, “The Great Indian Kapil Show,” is experiencing a dip in viewership, despite its star-studded lineup and the much-anticipated reunion of hosts Kapil Sharma and Sunil Grover.
According to Netflix data, after airing four episodes in a month, the show’s popularity seems to be waning.
The premiere episode, featuring Ranbir Kapoor and his family, initially drew in 2.4 million viewership hours, securing the third spot on Netflix’s Global Top 10 list for the week. However, as subsequent episodes rolled out, viewership declined steadily.
By the end of its first month, the show’s weekly viewership had halved, dropping to 3.9 million hours, and it slipped to the eighth spot with just 1.2 million total views. Despite this decline, the show has consistently held the number-one series position in India since its debut.
This isn’t Sharma’s first venture on Netflix; his debut stand-up special, “Kapil Sharma: I’m Not Done Yet,” didn’t make it to the global top 10 rankings. However, “The Great Indian Kapil Show” faces tougher competition.
Interestingly, while the Netflix series is struggling, full episodes of Sharma’s original TV show, “The Kapil Sharma Show,” have garnered significant traction on YouTube, indicating a potential divergence in audience preferences across platforms.
