(Daily Point) — Humane, the brainchild of former Apple employees Bethany Bongiorno and Imran Chaudhri, has officially announced that the highly anticipated release of its AI Pin is scheduled for March.

The company revealed this exciting development on its Twitter account last Friday. According to a social media post from the company, priority orders will be fulfilled first during the initial shipment in March. This marks a shift from the company’s earlier projection of an “early 2024” launch for the screen-less wearable device designed to replace smartphones.

Imran Chaudhri, expressing a perspective that envisions the obsolescence of smartphones, sees the $699 Humane AI Pin as a revolutionary paradigm shift. The device distinguishes itself by foregoing a traditional screen, instead relying on voice commands and a projector to display pertinent information directly onto the user’s hand.

Emphasizing privacy and contextual intelligence, the founders highlight the device’s ability to quickly understand user needs and connect them to appropriate AI experiences or services. Partnerships with OpenAI, Microsoft, and Tidal ensure users access to powerful AI models and platforms.

Underneath its sleek design, the Humane AI Pin is powered by a quad-core Snapdragon processor with a dedicated Qualcomm AI Engine, running on the Cosmos OS software. The device is available in three color options, with two incurring an additional $100 cost. For users opting for cellular data access, a $24 monthly fee is required, as the device operates as a mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) on T-Mobile’s network.

In terms of fulfillment, Humane has disclosed that remaining orders will be processed in the order they were received after the initial March shipment. Engadget has sought further details on the timeline for fulfilling current orders, and updates will be provided accordingly.

For those eager to get their hands on the Humane AI Pin, pre-orders are currently available on the company’s website. The Eclipse variant is priced at $699, while the Lunar and Equinox colorways come at a higher cost of $799, offering matte black on black and polished chrome on white or black, respectively.
