PESHAWAR (Daily Point) — Pervez Khattak, the Chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Parliamentarians, asserted on Monday that he had “declined” to adopt the bat symbol.

Speaking in Peshawar, Khattak stated, “I will persist in my fight for the welfare of the province [Khyber Pakhtunkhwa]. Changing political parties is a normal democratic process.”

Addressing concerns about supporters potentially joining as independent candidates if they win elections, the former KP chief minister remarked, “It is peculiar that some label me a turncoat for leaving the PTI.”

Khattak, on Saturday, affirmed that despite the party’s relative newness, it is prepared to participate in the upcoming polls. In Peshawar, he expressed, “The Supreme Court’s verdict on Friday put an end to all speculations surrounding the election. We appreciate the apex court’s decision.”

Responding to those complaining about an uneven playing field, Khattak urged them to participate in the elections, saying, “Those who feel there is no level playing field should contest the elections.”
