LAHORE (Daily Point) — Following a reduction in duties on solar panels, the prices have significantly dropped in Lahore, Punjab. Dealers reported a substantial decrease, with the cost of larger solar plates now at Rs30,000, down by Rs40,000 from the previous Rs70,000.

This sparked a rush among buyers in the capital city. Buyers noted that solar power is a more cost-effective option compared to electricity and piped gas, especially amid daily hours-long load shedding. Dealers reported a surge in demand due to the lowered prices but cautioned that prices might rise again next month.

Encouraging citizens to seize the opportunity, dealers advised installing solar panels at homes and offices before any potential price increases. The trend of opting for solar panels has been growing as citizens seek alternatives to cope with frequent electricity and gas load shedding.

In Karachi, the financial hub of Pakistan, customers flocked to the electronics market as the price of a 160W solar panel dropped by Rs4,000 to Rs11,000 from the earlier Rs15,000, marking a significant 36% reduction.
