(Daily Point) — As Pakistan approaches the 2024 general elections, the evaluation of nomination papers for candidates has provided valuable insights into the selection process unfolding nationwide.

The acceptance and rejection of nomination papers for Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) have displayed a varied outcome as the validation process for candidates in the upcoming 2024 general elections progresses. Out of a total of 2,620 papers submitted for both the National and Provincial assemblies, 1,996 received approval, while 625 faced rejection.

In the case of the National Assembly, PTI submitted 843 papers, with 598 gaining approval and 245 facing rejection, resulting in a 70.94% approval rate. In the provincial assemblies, PTI submitted 1,777 papers, of which 1,398 were approved, and 379 were rejected, reflecting an approval rate of 78.67% for PTI candidates in the provincial contests.

Taking a closer look at regional assemblies, PTI presented 769 papers for Punjab Assembly seats, witnessing the approval of 601 nominations and the rejection of 168. In the Sindh Assembly, out of 424 submissions, 346 papers were accepted, while 77 were rejected.

Turning to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly, PTI candidates submitted 495 papers, with 414 gaining approval and 81 facing rejection. Finally, for the Balochistan Assembly, out of 90 papers submitted, 37 were accepted, and 53 were rejected.

The meticulous examination of nomination papers emphasizes the rigorous selection process as political parties prepare for a fiercely contested electoral battle. The statistics highlight the intricate nature of candidate selection, showcasing both the thorough scrutiny applied and the diverse representation of PTI across Pakistan’s assemblies.
