WASHINGTON (Daily Point) — The recent strikes conducted by Iran in Pakistan, Iraq, and Syria, purportedly targeting “anti-Iranian terrorist groups,” have drawn condemnation from the United States.

During a briefing, State Department spokesman Matthew Miller expressed disapproval, citing Iran’s violation of the sovereign borders of three neighboring countries. Emphasizing a desire for peace and stability in the region, Miller noted the U.S.’s longstanding diplomatic efforts in the area.

In response to the attacks, Pakistan recalled its ambassador to Iran and prevented the return of an Iranian envoy after an airstrike in Balochistan resulted in the tragic death of two children. The Pakistani Foreign Ministry denounced the attack as “unprovoked” and a breach of sovereignty.

Iran’s Mehr news agency reported that the missile and drone strike targeted the Pakistani headquarters of Jaish al-Adl, a group designated as a terrorist organization by Iran. Jaish al-Adl has previously carried out attacks against Iran. Iran claimed additional missile strikes targeted “spy headquarters” and “terrorist” sites in Syria and Iraq’s Kurdistan region.

The timing of these attacks is noteworthy, occurring amidst the Israel-Gaza crisis and Red Sea ship attacks by Yemen’s Houthi rebels, who are supported by Iran. Foreign Secretary Miller in Washington criticized Iran, stating that while claiming to counter terrorism, it is also a major funder of instability and terrorism in the region.
