ISLAMABAD (Daily Point) — Widespread dense fog persists today in several cities, including the capital, leading to significant disruptions in transportation. The motorway has been shut down at various points due to reduced visibility.
Reports indicate that Islamabad is shrouded in heavy fog, causing objects to vanish as visibility drops drastically. Operations at Islamabad Airport have been halted due to the fog, impacting both air and road travel.
A spokesperson for the Motorway Police has confirmed the closure of traffic on Motorway M2 from Islamabad to Lahore, Motorway M1 from Peshawar to Burhan, and Motorway M14 from Daud Khel to York, all attributed to the reduced visibility caused by the thick fog.
The Swat Express is also inaccessible for all forms of traffic from Colonel Sher Khan to Ismailia. Imran Ahmed, a spokesperson for the Motorway Police, emphasized that the severity and duration of the fog have increased, particularly on national highways.
In response to the challenging conditions, motorway police advise road users to opt for daytime travel, emphasizing the use of front and rear fog lights to enhance visibility and prevent accidents. This precautionary measure is crucial in navigating the adverse weather conditions currently affecting the region.
