PESHAWAR (Daily Point) — Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Nawaz Sharif officially challenged the results of the National Assembly constituency NA-15 Mansehra election on Saturday.
Independent candidate Shehzad Muhammad Gashtasab Khan emerged as the victor with 105,249 votes, as per unofficial tallies from the Returning Officer/Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP). Nawaz Sharif trailed with 80,382 votes in the same count. The voter turnout for NA-15 Mansehra/Torghar stood at 38.38 percent.
In his submission to the Election Commission, Nawaz Sharif pointed out the significant logistical challenges faced by many areas in Mansehra due to heavy snowfall, resulting in communication disruptions during the critical election process.
Consequently, he urged that the outcome of NA-15 be withheld until a thorough investigation and resolution of the matter. It’s noteworthy that Nawaz Sharif, who is also eyeing the position of Prime Minister, secured victory in NA-130 against PTI-backed Yasmin Rashid, a win that has also been marked by controversy.
