(Daily Point) — In a historic moment for women’s cricket, South African cricketer Shabnim Ismail, the sole Muslim woman representing her country in international cricket, has set a new record by delivering the fastest ball ever bowled by a female cricketer.
This noteworthy achievement took place during a Women’s Premier League match between Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals in Bengaluru and Delhi, India.
Playing for Mumbai Indians, Shabnim created a buzz by unleashing a lightning-fast second ball during the third over at the Arun Jaitley Cricket Stadium in Delhi, reaching an astounding speed of 132.1 kilometers per hour (kmph). The delivery struck the pads of Australian skipper Meg Lanning, marking a significant milestone in the realm of women’s cricket.
This accomplishment adds another chapter to Shabnim’s already impressive legacy, building on her prior achievements of bowling at speeds of 128 kmph against West Indies in 2016 and 127 kmph twice during the ICC Women’s World Cup.
