(Daily Point) — OpenAI is taking steps to enhance accessibility to its AI tools, starting with the decision to enable ChatGPT usage without requiring an account. Since its launch in November 2022, ChatGPT has necessitated user accounts, but this requirement is being lifted.
With over 100 million users utilizing the app weekly across 185 countries, ChatGPT already enjoys a broad user base. However, OpenAI aims to further expand its reach by eliminating the need for users to log in, thereby lowering the barrier to entry.
The ability to use ChatGPT without an account will gradually become available worldwide as OpenAI implements this update. While the feature rollout may not be instantaneous for all users, it is indeed in progress.
It’s worth noting that default interactions with ChatGPT contribute to model improvement for all users. Nevertheless, individuals who prefer not to have their interactions recorded can easily disable this function via Settings, even without creating an account.
Although creating an account offers certain advantages, such as the ability to save and review conversations, as well as unlocking custom instructions and voice interactions, it is no longer a prerequisite for utilizing ChatGPT.
Additionally, OpenAI has introduced “additional content safeguards” to enhance user safety, including a wider range of prompt and generation blocking across various categories. However, specific details regarding these safeguards have not yet been disclosed.
