Elon Musk  reveals reason behind on delaying India visit

Tesla CEO Elon Musk has clarified the reason for the sudden delay of his planned visit to India, which he had previously announced earlier this month.

In a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, Musk, 52, stated, “Due to pressing Tesla commitments, my visit to India will have to be postponed. I’m eager to visit later this year.”

His explanation came in response to a separate X post indicating the postponement of his India visit initially slated for April 21 and 22. The post also mentioned Tesla’s earnings call on April 23 as a potential factor for the rescheduling.

Earlier announcements by Musk had generated significant buzz, particularly his intent to meet with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, 73, during his visit.

Speculation had been rife that Musk’s trip might involve discussions about establishing Tesla manufacturing units in India. This conjecture stemmed from a recent government notification unveiling a new electric vehicle manufacturing policy. This policy offers duty concessions to electric car manufacturers committing to produce vehicles in India.

Musk’s itinerary for the 48-hour visit had also included meetings with space startups and business leaders apart from his scheduled meeting with the PM.

The decision to delay Musk’s visit comes against the backdrop of upcoming significant elections in India. While Modi is anticipated to secure victory, the current model code of conduct in place may hinder any formal announcements regarding Musk’s Starlink project, as reported by Business Today.
