WhatsApp enables sharing of documents, pictures and videos offline

WhatsApp is said to be working on a groundbreaking feature set to transform how its users share files.

Inside sources reveal that WhatsApp is in the process of developing a feature that allows sharing of photos, videos, music, and documents even when offline.

Recent leaks from the WhatsApp beta version for Android unveil some details about the permissions needed for this forthcoming capability.

A standout feature is the app’s capability to identify nearby devices compatible with offline file sharing. This will be achieved by using Bluetooth to scan for nearby phones, though users will have the choice to opt-out of this feature.

Additionally, WhatsApp will require access to system files, photo galleries, and location services on users’ devices.

To ensure the security of shared content, WhatsApp plans to encrypt files and conceal phone numbers during the sharing process.

This new feature draws parallels with peer-to-peer file-sharing apps like ShareIT, which allow file exchange without needing cellular data or Wi-Fi.

While an official release date has not been announced by WhatsApp, its appearance in beta suggests it could be rolled out soon.

With this new addition, WhatsApp aims to offer its global user base a more convenient and secure file-sharing experience.
