Why does Samsung S24 face shortage in Pakistan?

The popularity of Samsung’s flagship phone, the S24, has surged in Pakistan, leading to a shortage of the device, as reported by Bloomberg on Thursday.

Despite efforts by Samsung Electronics to meet the high demand, sales are temporarily halted. The S24, assembled locally, has been highly sought after since its recent launch, commanding a premium price compared to other models in its range.

With 256GB space and 8GB RAM, it retails at Rs269,999.00. Last year, Pakistan saw the production of 21 million mobile units domestically, with an additional 1.7 million units imported.

Anticipating further growth, mobile phone assembly is projected to increase by 30% to 40% this year, according to Muzzaffar Hayat Piracha, CEO of Air Link Communication Ltd.

Samsung’s recent ascension over Apple as the leading phonemaker is attributed to a decline in iPhone shipments, reflecting heightened competition from Android smartphone manufacturers, as per data from the International Data Corporation.
