An Iranian state TV report on Sunday stated that a helicopter in a convoy of three, which included Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi, was involved in an accident.

Initial reports indicate that the helicopter carrying the president experienced a rough landing, and rescue teams are currently en route to the site.

State TV did not provide further details about the incident at the time. However, Iran’s interior minister later confirmed that one of the helicopters in the president’s convoy had a rough landing.

Unconfirmed reports suggest that the helicopter carrying President Raisi encountered difficulties in East Azerbaijan province, according to state television. The harsh weather conditions and heavy fog have complicated rescue efforts, making it challenging for teams to reach the accident site, as reported in an on-screen news alert.

Local media sources indicated that Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and other officials were also traveling in the same helicopter as President Raisi. President Raisi was in East Azerbaijan province on Sunday to inaugurate a dam project, accompanied by his Azeri counterpart, Ilham Aliev, on the border between the two countries.
