(Web Desk) — YouTube has introduced an enhanced eraser tool designed to simplify the removal of copyrighted music from videos for content creators.
This tool allows creators to delete copyrighted music without affecting other audio elements, such as dialogue or sound effects.
Neal Mohan, YouTube’s Chief Executive Officer, announced the update on X, stating, “Good news, creators: our updated Erase Song tool helps you easily remove copyright-claimed music from your video (while leaving the rest of your audio intact).”
The video streaming giant explained that while it had been experimenting with an eraser tool for some time, the previous versions had limited success in removing copyrighted songs. The new tool leverages an AI-powered algorithm to accurately identify and delete copyrighted music without disturbing the remaining audio in the video.
However, YouTube cautions that the algorithm might not always successfully remove the song. The company stated, “This edit might not work if the song is hard to remove. If this tool doesn’t successfully remove the claim on a video, you can try other editing options, such as muting all sound in the claimed segments or trimming out the claimed segments.”
As an alternative to removing specific audio segments, creators can choose to mute the sound in those sections to resolve copyright claims flagged by YouTube’s auto-detection system. This approach addresses copyright issues while maintaining the integrity of the remaining content.
