Azam Khan sits out net practice before Pakistan vs India match

(Web Desk) — Azam Khan, under scrutiny for his lackluster performance, was excluded from batting practice during Pakistan’s net session as they prepared for their upcoming match against rivals India.

Sources informed Geo News that the 25-year-old wicketkeeper-batsman was left on the sidelines while the rest of the team sharpened their skills.

Sources revealed that Azam did not participate in any batting drills, suggesting a possible lack of confidence in the young player from Pakistan’s captain Babar Azam and coach Gary Kirsten.

This development follows fan outrage over Azam’s inclusion in the squad after a disappointing loss to the United States earlier this week, adding to the pressure on the embattled cricketer.

Azam also faced online trolling, leading Imam Ul Haq to defend him, stating that social media criticism can hinder a cricketer’s performance in matches.

In response to the backlash, Azam appears to have either deleted or archived all his Instagram posts, sparking speculation that he made the move following fan criticism regarding his fitness and selection for the T20 World Cup squad.

Despite his successes in T20 league tournaments both in Pakistan and abroad, the son of legendary wicketkeeper-batsman Moin Khan has consistently faced criticism over his physical fitness.

Since his international debut in July 2018, Azam has struggled to make an impact in T20Is for Pakistan, scoring only 88 runs in 13 innings.
