(Daily Point) — Newly-elected Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has initiated discussions to assemble his cabinet, with several noteworthy individuals being contemplated for key positions.

While the final unveiling of the federal cabinet is anticipated to coincide with the presidential election, preliminary indications suggest potential candidates and their respective portfolios.

Sources reveal that Ahsan Iqbal is being considered for the role of interior minister, while Khawaja Asif is likely to assume the responsibilities of the defence minister.

In the prospective lineup, Attaullah Tarar is a frontrunner for the position of information minister, and Anusha Rehman is under consideration for the IT ministry. Sardar Yousaf is poised to become the minister for religious affairs.

Hanif Abbasi is expected to take on the role of health minister, with Musadik Malik earmarked for the petroleum ministry and Tariq Fazal Chaudhry set to lead the CAD ministry.

Amir Muqam may find a place in the cabinet, although his designated portfolio remains unknown at this point.

However, reports indicate that several individuals are still in contention for the crucial portfolios of finance and foreign affairs.

The ruling coalition, spearheaded by the Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz as the predominant party, has garnered support from the Pakistan Peoples Party for Shehbaz’s prime ministership. Despite extending their backing for the PM election, the Pakistan Peoples Party has explicitly declared its decision to abstain from accepting any ministerial positions.
