Former PTI lawmaker gunned down in Rawalpindi

(Daily Point) — Former Punjab Assembly member and independent candidate Chaudhry Adnan met a tragic end in Rawalpindi on Monday when unidentified assailants shot and killed him near the city’s police lines while his car was halted at a traffic signal.

Despite being rushed to the hospital, Adnan couldn’t survive his injuries. Law enforcement agencies have initiated a manhunt to apprehend the perpetrators who are currently at large.

Reports indicate that the fatal attack occurred as Adnan’s vehicle came to a stop at a traffic signal near the police lines. The police are actively investigating the incident to arrest the assailant and ensure justice prevails.

Adnan had recently contested the elections as an independent candidate for NA-57 Rawalpindi and PP-19. In NA-57, he secured 1820 votes and earned 2972 votes in PP-19.

Previously affiliated with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Adnan served as a Member of the Punjab Assembly from 2018 to 2023. However, in the February 8th elections, he chose to contest independently in both NA-57 Rawalpindi and PP-19, garnering significant support.
