LAHORE (Daily Point) — Nawaz Sharif, the quid of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), reflected on his past, recalling how he was the prime minister in 1999 during the day but was abruptly labeled a “hijacker” at night.

Speaking at a parliamentary board meeting, the former prime minister expressed anger at the exclusion of those upholding the constitution and the rule of law from politics. He asserted that when action was taken against those who violated the constitution, they faced attacks.

Nawaz Sharif highlighted the challenges faced, including detention and exile, lasting longer than their time in power. He lamented that had the developmental journey continued, the country might have progressed significantly.

He also mentioned their efforts in harnessing Thar coal for electricity production, emphasizing that despite hearing about it, no significant work had been done previously.

Regarding electoral outcomes, Nawaz Sharif expressed disappointment, citing instances where efforts to bring peace to Karachi or construct the Lowari tunnel did not translate into electoral support as expected.

Meanwhile, earlier on Sunday, PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif conveyed optimism about the country’s economic recovery, attributing it to the tough decisions made during the coalition government’s tenure.

Shehbaz held meetings with various PML-N leaders in Lahore, discussing party matters and upcoming general issues. The leaders also congratulated Shehbaz Sharif on the acquittal of Nawaz Sharif.
