LAHORE (Daily Point) — Imran Khan, the founder of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party, is set to run in the upcoming general election from a minimum of three constituencies in the National Assembly, as announced by party leaders Barrister Ali Zafar and Barrister Gohar during a press briefing outside Rawalpindi’s Adiala prison.

The leaders, who were present for Imran Khan’s legal proceedings, disclosed that the PTI has advised its election candidates to promptly submit their nomination papers, bypassing the wait for official party tickets. The final decision regarding party tickets is anticipated soon, according to Gohar.

Despite alleged hindrances preventing PTI workers from engaging in election-related activities, Gohar emphasized the party’s commitment to proceeding with the election. Ali Zafar expressed concern over PTI candidates facing obstacles in submitting their nomination papers, condemning such actions as undemocratic. Zafar asserted that the PTI would prioritize candidates currently detained for party tickets.

Addressing Imran Khan’s candidacy, Gohar revealed that Khan intends to contest the election from three constituencies, with nomination papers to be filed in Mianwali, Islamabad, and Lahore. Responding to queries about bar councils urging the resignation of Pakistan’s chief election commissioner prior to the general election, Gohar stated that the PTI would not make demands that could potentially delay the impending electoral process.
