(Daily Point) — The Interior Ministry has submitted a detailed report to the Islamabad High Court regarding the suspension of the social media platform referred to as X, previously known as Twitter.

The report highlights legal and factual inconsistencies in the petition opposing the suspension of X, emphasizing that X is not registered in Pakistan and does not conform to Pakistani regulations.

The necessity of imposing restrictions to protect national security stems from X’s failure to comply with governmental laws and regulations.

The primary objective behind the ban on X is to prevent its exploitation as a platform for disseminating extremist ideologies and false information, rather than stifling freedom of expression. Furthermore, the report discloses that X’s non-compliance with Pakistani laws prompted its suspension. The Federal Investigation Agency’s cyber crimes wing had requested X to block accounts involved in spreading misleading propaganda against the Chief Justice of Pakistan, a request that went unanswered by X.
