(Daily Point) — The sources revealed that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) is poised to assign the foreign ministry portfolio to Ishaq Dar, while considering him as the frontrunner for the position of finance minister in the forthcoming cabinet under newly-elected Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

Amid ongoing consultations to shape the cabinet, HBL CEO Muhammad Aurangzeb is anticipated to be appointed as an adviser on finance.

Potential appointments for other key ministries have also surfaced. Attaullah Tarar is being considered for the information ministry, and Rana Sanaullah may take on the role of advisor for interior affairs.

While the official announcement of the federal cabinet is expected around the time of the presidential election, several names and their possible portfolios have been disclosed. Ahsan

Iqbal is a prominent contender for the interior minister position, with Khawaja Asif likely to assume the role of defense minister.

Anusha Rehman is being considered for the IT ministry, and Sardar Yousaf may become the minister for religious affairs. Additionally, Hanif Abbasi is expected to lead the health ministry, while Musadik Malik is being considered for the petroleum ministry and Tariq Fazal Chaudhry for the CAD ministry.

Several other figures, including Amin ul Haq from MQM-P, Aleem Khan from IPP, Chaudhry Salik Hussain from PML-Q, and Azam Nazir Tarar, Amir Muqam, and Nasir Sidhu from PML-N, could potentially join the cabinet, although their portfolios are yet to be finalized.

Rana Mashhood, Abid Sher Ali, Fawad Hasan Fawad, and Ahad Cheema are expected to serve as special assistants to the prime minister.

The ruling coalition, led by the Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz, secured support from the Pakistan Peoples Party for Shehbaz Sharif’s candidacy for prime minister. However, the PPP has stated that it will not seek any ministerial positions in the cabinet.
