LAHORE (Daily Point) — Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Shehbaz Sharif has suggested a seat adjustment with the Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP).
In a meeting held on Thursday, the IPP delegation, led by patron-in-chief Jahangir Khan Tareen, discussed the proposal with the former prime minister. The IPP’s decision on the offer will be made after consultation with the party’s central executive committee.
During the meeting, Shehbaz Sharif and IPP leaders exchanged views on the current political situation, with IPP leader Awn Chaudhry also in attendance.
In a separate development, the IPP criticized the intra-party polls of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) a few days ago. IPP Spokesperson Firdous Ashiq Awan expressed concern and hoped that the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) would take notice of the PTI’s intra-party polls. She stated that the PTI’s intra-polls are deemed unconstitutional and against the law.
Firdous Ashiq Awan specifically raised objections to the appointment of Barrister Gohar Ali Khan as the PTI chairman, emphasizing that his selection without due process goes against the party’s manifesto and democratic traditions. She called for strict action by the ECP against the PTI regarding the intra-party polls, describing them as a violation of democratic principles and an example of dictatorship within the party.
