LAHORE (Daily Point) — Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has hinted at organising a prolonged protest march in response to the purported election irregularities during the February 8 general elections and the detention of party founder Imran Khan on Tuesday.

In a statement shared on X (formerly Twitter), PTI leader Hammad Azhar dismissed any notion of moving forward until the release of former Prime Minister Imran Khan and other detained party members.

Azhar emphasized the necessity of freeing all political figures and supporters while reinstating the nation’s electoral integrity.

Hammad Azhar cautioned those in positions of authority not to underestimate the determination of the people, warning that the nation would not remain passive in the face of what he termed as “injustice and blatant usurpation” of their electoral mandate.

The PTI official suggested that the situation was escalating towards an imminent protest march, asserting that the entire populace would join the movement in solidarity with PTI’s cause.

Earlier in the day, PTI leader Asad Qaiser announced the party’s intention to stage street protests against the alleged manipulation of election results on February 8.

Speaking to the press in Islamabad, former National Assembly Speaker Qaiser stated that PTI aimed to mobilize various political factions to challenge what he referred to as a “stolen election.”

“Our nonviolent protest will encompass all provinces,” he declared. “Our struggle isn’t merely for our political interests but for the well-being of the nation,” Qaiser affirmed.

Expressing dismay over the alleged appropriation of 180 seats from the Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC), a political ally of PTI, Qaiser highlighted the magnitude of electoral irregularities.

“180 seats, including those for women, were unjustly taken from the SIC. A false prime minister currently occupies the throne,” he lamented.

“I fear for the future of this nation,” Qaiser added, urging the establishment of a judicial commission to investigate the events of May 9.

Meanwhile, PTI has called for nationwide demonstrations on March 10 (Sunday) to protest against the alleged electoral malpractice during the February 8 general elections.
