ISLAMABAD (Daily Point) — The Federal Ombudsman Secretariat for Protection Against Harassment (FOSPAH) has issued notices to former National Accountability Bureau (NAB) chairman Justice (retd) Javed Iqbal in connection with the Tayyaba Gul harassment case.
The notices, which were issued to Iqbal and 11 others, follow a hearing conducted by FOSPAH Chairperson Fauzia Viqar regarding a case filed by Gul in 2022. In her complaint, Gul alleged sexual harassment and rape by the former NAB head and other officials of the anti-graft watchdog.
The controversial video featuring Gul and the ex-NAB chairman had surfaced in 2019, prompting her to file a complaint accusing Iqbal of sexual harassment during her visit to the NAB office. She claimed that her clothes were torn off upon the directions of NAB Director General Shehzad Saleem, resulting in bruises on her body.
Gul also asserted that Javed Iqbal threatened to destroy her life and accused him of blackmail and coercion for “indecent acts” in return for processing her application. She recounted being taken to Lahore after her arrest by investigation officer Imran Dogar, where she alleged harassment and rape by Dogar and other NAB officials. According to Gul, the former NAB chairman not only threatened to ignore her application but also influenced DG NAB Saleem to falsely arrest her.
Javed Iqbal, in response, dismissed Gul’s allegations, citing her medical report submitted to the NAB Court of Special Judge Syed Najamul Hassan, labeling her a “fraud.” The case continues to unfold with ongoing investigations and hearings.
