KARACHI (Daily Point) — In a resounding display of political support, Murad Ali Shah, a prominent figure within the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), has been re-elected as the Chief Minister of Sindh for the third consecutive time.
Born on August 11, 1962, in Karachi, Shah’s educational journey took him through prestigious institutions, culminating in a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from NED University of Engineering and Technology in 1985.
With a diverse professional background spanning both public and private sectors in Pakistan, the United Kingdom, Kuwait, and the United States, Shah’s career encompasses roles as an engineer in various authorities and later as an Investment Banker in international institutions.
Entering the political arena in 2002 under the PPP banner, Shah secured a victory in the general elections for the Provincial Assembly of Sindh. His foray into politics followed in the footsteps of his father, who had previously held the constituency from 1970 to 1993.
Having successfully contested in the 2008, 2013, and 2018 elections, Shah held various ministerial portfolios from 2008 to 2016, including Revenue, Irrigation, Finance, Energy, and Planning and Development. In July 2016, he assumed the role of chief minister and was re-elected after the 2018 general elections for a second term.
Notably, Shah is an integral part of the PPP’s Central Executive Committee and serves as the Vice President of PPP Sindh, further solidifying his position as a key leader within the party.”
