KARACHI (Daily Point) — A statement released on Sunday reported the recovery of at least 23 iPhones valued at Rs9.2 million from a woman at Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport.

Customs officials halted the woman at the Green Channel, suspecting her of carrying illegal items, upon her arrival from Sharjah, UAE, on an Air Arabia flight.

Upon scanning her luggage, officials identified empty mobile phone boxes and graphic cards. When questioned about the empty boxes, the woman failed to provide a satisfactory answer.

Consequently, a female officer escorted her to a searching room, where a physical search uncovered 23 iPhone 15 Pro Max devices taped to her body, as stated in the release.

The recovered mobile phones were estimated at around Rs9.2 million, leading to the imposition of a Rs4.3 million duty. The Customs officials seized the phones and apprehended the woman, initiating legal proceedings against her under the Customs Act.

Further interrogation of the woman is underway, following the court’s approval for remand, according to officials.
